I am a birth doula and an objective, reassuring presence during childbirth. As a labor assistant, I offer women continuous one-on-one care and provide a variety of helpful positions and comfort measures, which can result in a shorter labor with fewer complications.

Having a doula with you during childbirth creates a calm birth, which may reduce the need for labor-inducing drugs, pain medication and/or epidural, and the use of forceps or vacuum extraction. In the event of a complication, a doula can help the family understand what is happening and discuss the available options, providing security and confidence during childbirth. Whether you are planning to have a "natural" birth, a c-section or to labor with an epidural, you will benefit from the comfort and support a doula provides.
