We were able to reschedule our August Music in the Meadow! Please join us on August 24 from 6:00 - 7:30pm in Ormond Grant Park (on the corner of Ormond & Grant Streets) and get ready to relax and listen to some great music by The Paulines.

The Paulines started in 2011 playing bluegrass-meets-gospel in the sanctuary of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Grant Park. Since then, the group of four (give or take) amazing female vocalists and three guys on strings have branched out to play at Atlanta bars and restaurants, fundraisers, festivals and more. The Paulines cover a wide variety of musical genres, but are probably best described as Americana with roots in folk and blues. Listen for off-the-beaten-path renditions of songs by vocalists ranging from Simon & Garfunkel and Alison Krauss to Tom Petty and The Cure. You never know what funky cover song The Paulines will come up with next!

A big thanks to our headline sponsor, Soccer Shots. As the premier Children’s Soccer Experience, Soccer Shots's mission is clear – to positively impact children’s lives.

Soccer Shots is offerin fall classes starting in November on Monday and Tuesday evenings. The cost is $150 for a 10 week season, and as always you can register and find more information at soccershots.org/northatlanta.

Soccer Shots is an engaging children’s soccer program with a focus on character development. Their caring team positively impacts children’s lives on and off the field through best-in- class coaching, communication and curriculum. Their coaches are the best-trained in the business. Their expert-approved curriculum is age-appropriate and aligns with childhood education standards. In addition, they provide an exceptional customer experience and ongoing communication with parents.

SEACS is a parent and community group to advocate for all of the schools in the Jackson cluster. We need new blood. Please take a look at the openings and serve if called.

Right now we have an incomplete slate. SEACS can get started without some school reps; however, coverage for Jackson and King are crucial. Please comment here or PM me by the end of the day.⌛

One of our own GPPN families had an unimaginable freak accident seven weeks ago. Chris Boehme was struck by a tree limb and suffered a Traumatic Brain Injury. He has spent the past six weeks at Grady memorial hospital. He was initially unresponsive but is making incredible gains and had just been moved to the Shepard Center for rehab for an undetermined amount of time. While his future at this point is unknown, there is a possibility that when he returns home, he will likely need round the clock care in between going to outpatient therapy for PT, OT and speech therapy. Through all of this, his wife Katie Nard Boehme has shown remarkable strength as she balances the needs of a critically ill husband and a sweet 2 1/2 year old boy who misses his daddy. Katie is a 4th grade teacher at the Schenk School for children with dyslexia. She was able to take the summer off but now must return to work to support her family. Please consider attending this benefit to help offset their numerous medical and household expenses. If you can not attend, please consider donating whatever you can to support this amazing family on Chris's road to recovery.
